What are the benefits of having a dog walker come to my home when I'm at work?

Dogs and walks are really something that go hand-in-hand. It doesn’t matter if you have a new puppy, an elderly dog, a lap dog or a police K9 officer; walks are very important for your pets physical and mental well being. We all want what’s best for our dogs, and having a walk during the day is a great way to help your best friend.

One of the biggest benefits of a walk during the day is allowing your dog to get a bathroom break. Who wants to hold it all day? Having someone come to let them out during the day not only makes the dog more comfortable and less stressed while your away, but it also means your chances of having to clean up accidents when you get home go down as well.

Then there’s the obvious benefit of regular walks: helping with your pet’s excess energy. We’ve all come home after a long day only to be drowned in a wave of dog energy. We want to help our friend work out all that pent up energy, but sometimes we just don’t have it in us after working all day. By having a walker come around during the day, you’ll find that when you get home your best friend is calmer, better behaved, and still thrilled to see you.

A final benefit of dog walking that may not seem as obvious is the mental stimulation it provides for your dog. Whether it’s a herding breed, a working breed, or a hound, all dogs need mental stimulation. Not getting a good mental workout can have your dog not only feeling sad but also engaging in destructive behavior out of boredom and frustration . When your pet is bored, it will find ways to entertain itself; and sometimes, that means taking out its energy on your furniture, shoes, or worse. Going for walks gives them opportunities to play, sniff, be social, and all other things dogs loves!
